This book tapped into some old repressed memories i had,which i really needed to confront,it was a very sad day around the world the day that Austin died,because none of us know how far each of us will reach into the world,,and although this book returns many times to the scriptures of the Bible,it does not "shove it down ones throat" and after reading the book and having experienced death of a loved one in my life,it brings forward the peace one desires to grasp so they don't go insane,,i ordered several for friends to read as well,,everyone should take a moment of their life to read this book,regardless of their religion or lack of one.

I read this book in one setting...I could not put it down. This story is one that touches all who read it, one that you will want to have available to read again, and one that can begin healing for many. This tragic story not only tells of one family's unthinkable horror, but of their amazing journey towards healing with an unbelievable strength that can only be given by God. This story is a must for anyone who has ever gone through any kind of loss. It not only gives you words to relate to, but words to begin or continue healing. I had no idea I still needed healing from the sudden suicide of my father, from over 15 years ago, until I read this story. Although it was uncomfortable dealing with emotions I had buried inside, I had come to terms with those lingering questions and feelings by the end of this book. Whether you are a spirtual person or not, The Austin Haley Story is a must read. It's gentle and non-offensive approach works for everyone.
This book is an amazing story of the peace that God gives his children when they are faced with tragedy. I was able to read this book at a time when my family & myself was faced with uncertain news about my health. Not only was I amazed with the perfect faith that the Haley's have, but was able to look to God for His perfect will and comfort for our lives. I would highly recommend everyone read this story, not only will it show us all what perfect faith is but it also reconnects us with our loving Father. It will remind us that no matter what we are facing, His promise is that He will never leave us nor forsake us. While reading about this family and the horrible events they faced, you can feel God's loving arms and comforting peace all around you. God bless you and thank you Mr & Mrs Haley for sharing your tragedy so others might find the love and peace that God offers us.
I'm incredibly touched by this book. I admire you, Jack & Renee Haley, for the faith, love, and passion you keep for Jesus. Thank you for your beliefs and reminding us that hope isn't ever lost. I really appreciate your honesty in expressing both your feelings of simultaneous joy at your remarkable, glorious memories of Austin and your time with him, as well as your gut-wrenching grief at your profound loss of his earthly life and loneliness for his joyous presence. Now he smiles and laughs knowing Jesus personally. Your thoughts reflect what he enjoyed most - life & family - and the fact that he belonged to Jesus Christ. Bless him and all of you that will miss him here on Earth. May God watch over you and help you through the rough times ahead, some of this journey you must travel alone and at other times you will feel friends and loved ones there with you, as well as you will also feel the presence of Austin by your side. I must admit that at first I did not want to read this book. I personally know Jack and Renee. Austin was in the Sunday school class taught by my husband and I for over a year. Everything you heard or read about this remarkable young man is true. I have never met a child at the age of 5 who loved the Lord and KNEW the Lord loved him like Austin did. To hear this young man pray or witness to others was such a wonderful blessing. Being even a small part of Austin's life was a joy there is no words to express.
Just ready the first few pages immediately brought back the pain I felt when I first heard the horrible news. I did force myself to finish the book and I am so glad I did. I was only Austin's friend and teacher, how his parents ever did this was amazing to me. Reading this book does show you the way, through faith, to get beyond the pain and feel the love. It is the story of how faith, family and friends helped a family make it through one of the most painful events one can face. It's a story of healing, forgiveness and strength of character obtained through faith and love of God.
God bless Jack and Renee for putting into words their love, faith and their walk through the pain to help others.
Everyone should read this book. I live near Noble and followed the story in the newspaper. I admire the fact that the authors were able to forgive the officers responsible for their son's death, that they glorify God with their lives and show others what it means to be a Christian. Also I found the section about what to say and what NOT to say very helpful.
